  • Course Description
    • This advanced postgraduate lecture presents a structured, evidence-informed diagnostic algorithm for the early recognition of cervical artery dissection (CAD). Emphasis is placed on distinguishing benign mechanical neck pain and headache from evolving vascular pathology through careful history, focused neurologic examination, and risk stratification. Participants will refine their clinical reasoning, reduce cognitive bias, and strengthen documentation and referral decision-making to enhance patient safety and medico-legal defensibility.
  • Hourly Breakdown:
    • Hour 1:
      • Pathophysiology and early clinical presentation of cervical artery dissection
      • Step-by-step diagnostic algorithm: history, examination, red flags, and risk factors
      • Clinical decision-making, documentation standards, and referral thresholds
  • Learning Objectives:
      • Implement appropriate documentation and referral strategies to protect patients and practitioners
        • Identify early warning signs and symptom patterns suggestive of cervical artery dissection.
        • Apply a structured diagnostic algorithm to differentiate vascular from musculoskeletal presentations
