  • Course Description
    • This advanced postgraduate lecture focuses on the early recognition of high-risk diagnoses that may initially present in the chiropractic office. Emphasis is placed on differentiating benign musculoskeletal complaints from serious vascular, neurologic, infectious, inflammatory, and neoplastic conditions. Participants will refine their differential diagnosis process, strengthen red-flag screening, and enhance documentation and referral decision-making to improve patient safety and reduce medico-legal exposure.

    • Hour 1:
      • Red flags and high-risk clinical presentations in common chiropractic complaints
      • Structured differential diagnosis frameworks and cognitive bias reduction
      • Documentation standards, communication strategies, and referral thresholds
  • Learning Objectives:
    • Identify high-risk diagnoses that may mimic routine musculoskeletal conditions.
    • Apply structured differential diagnosis and red-flag screening in everyday practice.
    • Implement documentation and referral strategies that enhance patient safety and reduce liability.

Instructor: James Demetrious, DC, DABCO

Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished, board certified chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious teaches post-graduate coursework on behalf of Northeast College of Health Sciences. He is an independent member of the NCMIC Speakers’ Bureau and teaches post-graduate coursework throughout the United States. He has published peer-reviewed journal papers related to advanced differential diagnosis. Dr. Demetrious cared for patients for 40 years.
