Cervical Artery Dissection Clinical Algorithm

Instructor: James Demetrious, DC, DABCO

Cost: $50 – 1 CE Hour

Course Description:

This advanced postgraduate lecture presents a structured, evidence-informed diagnostic algorithm for the early recognition of cervical artery dissection (CAD). Emphasis is placed on distinguishing benign mechanical neck pain and headache from evolving vascular pathology through careful history, focused neurologic examination, and risk stratification. Participants will refine their clinical reasoning, reduce cognitive bias, and strengthen documentation and referral decision-making to enhance patient safety and medico-legal defensibility.

Hourly Breakdown:

  • Review of poor methodologies that are used by plaintiff witnesses in cervical artery dissection cases
  • Review of the associated concepts related to clinical risk, recognition and referral
  • Clinical algorithm predictor domains associated with cervical artery dissection
  • Review of the emergency clinical protocol when cervical artery dissection is suspected

Learning Objectives

  • Better understand low level evidence utilized by plaintiff expert witnesses in cervical artery dissection cases.
  • Apply a structured diagnostic algorithm to the differential assessment of patients presenting with cervical artery dissection, transient neurologic deficits, and infarct events
  • Develop insi he’s my boy I give you kisses. Are you hungry? Your tummy put down the ducky if you wanna play the saxophone.ght into an emergency clinical protocol for suspected cervical artery dissection/TIA or infarct events

Note: This class includes a downloadable PDF titled Emergency Clinical Protocol, available under the Materials tab for use within the attendee’s clinical office. This document is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or distributed without authorization.
