Course Description:
- Dr. James Demetrious provides a review of research related to medical error and iatragenic issues that may present to the chiropractic office (1 CE Hour).
- Relevant learning opportunities will be presented from insight gained from current and ongoing research.
- Dr. Demetrious will discuss instructive cases and related literature.
Hourly Syllabus:
- Hour 1: Adverse medical events, medication issues seen in chiropractic practice, injection iatrogenesis, Fluoroquinolones caused cervical artery dissections, surgical adverse events.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
- Attendees will receive a nuanced review of current peer-reviewed literature.
- Attendees will better understand lab and advanced diagnostic testing related to medical errors seen in chiropractic practice.
- Attendees will have a better understanding of related morbidity and mortality issues related to medical errors.
Instructor: James Demetrious, DC, DABCO
Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious teaches post-graduate coursework on behalf of Northeast College of Health Sciences. He is a member of the NCMIC Speakers’ Bureau and teaches post-graduate coursework throughout the United States. He has published peer-reviewed journal papers related to advanced differential diagnosis. He serves as an editorial reviewer on behalf of the journals: Spine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Clinical Anatomy. Dr. Demetrious has continually cared for patients since 1986.
