Description
Chiropractic Orthopedics
Instructor: James Demetrious, DC, DABCO
Cost: $50 – 2 CE Hours
Course Description:
This lecture provides a clinically focused review of articular injury and segmental dysfunction from a chiropractic orthopedic perspective. Participants will examine the biomechanical, neurologic, and soft tissue mechanisms contributing to segmental hypomobility and musculoskeletal pain syndromes. Emphasis is placed on distinguishing intra-articular, extra-articular, and neurogenic contributors to dysfunction and understanding the biologic processes of tissue injury, repair, and adaptation.
Hourly Breakdown:
- Hour 1 – Mechanisms of Articular Injury and Dysfunction
- Biomechanics of joint injury and segmental hypomobility
- Intra-articular pathology: capsule, synovium, and cartilage injury
- Extra-articular contributors: ligamentous and myofascial dysfunction
- Clinical orthopedic examination and diagnostic reasoning
- Hour 2 – Neurophysiology, Healing, and Clinical Management
- Neurogenic mechanisms contributing to musculoskeletal pain
- Mechanoreceptor and nociceptive pathways in joint dysfunction
- Tissue healing phases and biologic repair processes
- Evidence-informed chiropractic management and rehabilitation strategies
Learning Objectives
- Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-
- Describe the biomechanical and pathophysiologic mechanisms associated with articular injury and segmental hypomobility.
- Differentiate intra-articular, extra-articular, and neurogenic causes of musculoskeletal dysfunction.
- Apply orthopedic examination procedures to identify articular injury and joint dysfunction.
- Explain the biologic processes involved in tissue injury, healing, and functional adaptation.
- Integrate evidence-based chiropractic management strategies for the treatment of articular injury and neuromusculoskeletal disorders
