- Course Description:
- This course provides an evidence-informed, clinically grounded review of high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) of the cervical spine. Emphasis is placed on biomechanical principles, neurophysiologic effects, clinical indications, contraindications, risk assessment, and patient communication to support safe, effective, and defensible chiropractic care.
- Hourly Breakdown:
- Hour 1 – The lecture reviews cervical spine anatomy and biomechanics relevant to HVLA SMT, including joint mechanics, force vectors, and amplitude/velocity considerations. Discussion addressed neurophysiologic mechanisms associated with SMT, patient selection and screening.
- Learning Objectives:
- Explain the biomechanical and neurophysiologic principles underlying cervical HVLA SMT.
- Apply appropriate clinical screening, indications, and contraindicationsfor cervical SMT.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment in selecting and delivering cervical HVLA SMT while documenting care to support safety and defensibility.

Dr. David Graber is a nationally known presenter who has developed and taught over 30 courses on spinal and extremity adjusting techniques, low tech rehabilitation, the science of manipulation and manual care, contextual healing, and other topics.He is a diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Sports Physicians, and serves on board of directors of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC). Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished, board-certified chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious is the co-founder and CEO of PostGradDC. He is an independent member of the NCMIC Speakers’ Bureau and teaches post-graduate coursework throughout the United States. He has published peer-reviewed journal articles on advanced differential diagnosis. Dr. Demetrious provided chiropractic care to patients for 40 years.
