  • Course Description
    • This advanced postgraduate lecture examines the diagnosis and management of cervicogenic headache within chiropractic practice. Emphasis is placed on upper cervical anatomy, trigeminocervical convergence, and the clinical features that distinguish cervicogenic headache from migraine, tension-type, and serious secondary causes. Participants will refine their differential diagnosis process, strengthen risk stratification, and integrate evidence-informed chiropractic care to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Hourly Breakdown:
    • Hour 1:
      • Applied upper cervical anatomy and mechanisms of cervicogenic headache
      • Differential diagnosis and red-flag screening
  • Learning Objectives:
    • Differentiate cervicogenic headache from primary and secondary headache disorders.
    • Apply a structured differential diagnosis approach to headache presentations.
    • Develop a safe, evidence-informed chiropractic management plan with appropriate referral when indicate.

Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished, board certified chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious teaches post-graduate coursework on behalf of Northeast College of Health Sciences. He is a member of the NCMIC Speakers’ Bureau and teaches post-graduate coursework throughout the United States. He has published peer-reviewed journal papers related to advanced differential diagnosis. He serves as an editorial reviewer on behalf of the journals: Spine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Clinical Anatomy. Dr. Demetrious has continually cared for patients since 1986.
