- Dr. James Demetrious provides a comprehensive review of fractures that may be seen in chiropractic practice (4.0 CE hours).
- Hourly Syllabus:
- Hour 1 – Spinal fracture classifications, case presentations – Gehweiler fx, 1st rib/Horner’s, Schmorls node/imaging, acute pars fracture
- Hour 2 – TL compression fx, ACR criteria, zygapophyseal fx, pars insufficiency fx, osteoporosis, FRAX, TL augmentation
- Hour 3 – FX complications of RA, sacral insufficiency fx, Bisphosphonates/osteonecrosis, SCFE, elbow fx, pediatric wrist fx, Salter-Harris classification
- Hour 4 – S-H advanced imaging, scapholunate dissociation, DISI, SLAC, instructive cases
- Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will better understand current concepts related to the identification, management and referral of fractures that present to chiropractic office.
- Attendees will improve diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making.
- Attending will be better prepared regarding questions related to fractures.

Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished, board certified chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious teaches post-graduate coursework on behalf of Northeast College of Health Sciences. He is a member of the NCMIC Speakers’ Bureau and teaches post-graduate coursework throughout the United States. He has published peer-reviewed journal papers related to advanced differential diagnosis. He serves as an editorial reviewer on behalf of the journals: Spine, Annals of Internal Medicine, and Clinical Anatomy. Dr. Demetrious has continually cared for patients since 1986.
