Course Description:
This live, interactive course provides an evidence-informed, clinically grounded review of chiropractic high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) spinal manipulative therapy (SMT) of the cervical spine and its effect on the cervical arteries. Emphasis is placed on cervical artery dissection associated with current research.
Hourly Breakdown:
- Hour 1 – The lecture reviews current research associated with vessel strain analysis during the delivery of chiropractic spinal manipulation. Discussion will address in vivo and in vitro assessments.
Learning Objectives
- Explain the biomechanical and neurophysiologic principles underlying cervical HVLA SMT and vessel strain.
- Apply rationales associated with vessel strain.
- Demonstrate sound clinical judgment in selecting and delivering cervical HVLA SMT while documenting care to support safety and defensibility.
