Course Description:

This two-hour postgraduate lecture provides an advanced, clinically relevant approach to hip orthopedic assessment for chiropractic physicians. Emphasis is placed on applied anatomy, pain generators, orthopedic examination strategies, and imaging indications that improve diagnostic accuracy and risk stratification. Through case-based discussion and imaging correlation, attendees will strengthen their ability to differentiate hip pathology from lumbar, pelvic, and systemic conditions while improving clinical decision-making and referral appropriateness.

    • Common sources of hip and groin pain
    • Prevalence, red flags, and clinical indications
    • Differential diagnosis: hip vs. lumbar vs. pelvic pathology

    • Overview of imaging strategies (acute vs. chronic hip pain
    • Evidence-based hip orthopedic examination procedures
    • Test interpretation and diagnostic clustering
    • Instructive case reviews highlighting missed or atypical diagnoses
    • Clinical pearls for risk management and referral decisions

Dr. James Demetrious is a nationally distinguished, board-certified chiropractic orthopedist. He is a clinician, educator, author, and editor. Dr. Demetrious is the co-founder and CEO of PostGradDC.
